I hate finding a new stylist, but after moving it was time to find somewhere new. I found Pretty Vacant Collective and it felt different straight away. No judgement, no awkwardness, even about my hack-job haircut.
My poodle Sabrina was welcomed and fussed over, which meant a lot. Danny (The Rusty Barber) was amazing and made me feel really comfortable. Beautiful space, super welcoming, and a genuinely lovely experience. Looking forward to going back already (you won’t hear me say that often) 💜

Pretty Vacant Collective is hands down the best salon I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, and you can tell they really care about creating a safe space for everyone. They’re so supportive of the Liverpool community, and their values are amazing! It’s clear they’re passionate about making a difference. It also helps that their playlist is perfect too!

Kelly has been my go-to hairdresser for years, and she is absolutely incredible. An appointment with her is so easy and it’s more like having a catch up with a friend. She also did my hair for my wedding, and it was everything I could have hoped for—so special and absolutely stunning. She was even on hand to lend me eyeliner on the day which I can’t believe I’d forgotten! And she made my maid of honour and mum feel and look incredible too – they both wish they lived in Liverpool so she could be their hairdresser too! She always knows exactly what to do to make me feel and look my best, and I leave every appointment feeling amazing.

I can’t recommend Kelly and the team at Pretty Vacant enough. It’s not just a salon, it’s a space where you feel celebrated, supported, and completely at home. If you’re looking for incredible hair and an even better experience, this is the place to go!

Was excited to find a salon that apparently prides itself on being “A SAFE SPACE FOR ALL” after many of my friends loving the salon. But quickly felt like I was not welcomed from the point of contact. As a queer POC I was so happy to find a space but ended up not even booking an appointment due to hesitation from two of the stylists to attempt to do my hair. If you have curly/afro hair, apparently they have no experience.

Can’t recommend Danny (@therustybarber) enough! Was looking for a queer friendly barber / salon and came across PVC. The space is cool and the staff are so welcoming. Danny took the time to chat through with me my reference images and what exactly he’d do with my hair step by step to achieve what I was looking for. Super friendly, chatty guy, couldn’t have asked for a better barber experience!

Popped in earlier today for a haircut, and spoke with Danny (@therustybarber) about the rough idea of what I was hoping for and he didn’t disappoint! I came away feeling much more myself afterwards. Danny himself is brilliant, he did an amazing job and I love how my hair turned out. I’d definitely come back again, and I’ll be recommending him to all of my friends!
