Joel the floor manager lower floor Selfridges Manchester Exchange – has an extremely unprofessional sense of management (given his position)

I asked for something very specific to be done with my hair — a completely reasonable request — and instead of explaining calmly whether it was possible or offering alternatives, Joel denied it in an extremely arrogant and dismissive manner. His tone felt condescending, and the way he spoke to me was unnecessarily rude.

There was no attempt to listen, no effort to understand what I was asking for, and no customer-focused solution offered. It wasn’t the fact that he said no — it was how he said it. A simple professional explanation would have been perfectly fine. Instead, I was made to feel small and brushed off.

Customer service is about respect, even when requests can’t be accommodated. Unfortunately, Joel’s attitude turned what should have been a pleasant visit into an uncomfortable experience.

Had a fabulous experience with Michael today at the Aveda Blow Dry Bar. I travelled up from Bristol for an event in Manchester this week, and treated myself to an act of perfect self care. Michael was attentive, styled my hair with a great attention to detail and we had lovely conversation. It was the best hour of the week!
I don’t know if I’d travel 3 hours only for a blow dry but never say never! I wouldn’t hesitate to book and recommend this lovely fella when I’m here again.
